HELEN LOUISE FADLER

Helen Louise (Fuhrman) Fadler, 95, of Marceline died Monday, January 22, 2024, at Columbia Post Acute Center in Columbia, Mo. Helen was born to William Henry Fuhrman and Flossie Frances (Dry) Fuhrman on September 12, 1928. She married Raymond Fadler September 6, 1947, in Moberly, Mo. Helen attended Moberly Public Schools and graduated from Moberly Junior College. Her daughter Cheryl was born in August 1948 and in November 1952 her son Dennis was born. In 1956 the family moved to Shelbina, Mo., where Raymond was the plant manager for Uregas from 1956-1960. Raymond and Helen’s family moved to Marceline in January 1961 after buying Carter’s Gas and Electric. They owned and operated Fadler’s Gas and Appliance on main street for 33 years. They made many friends, both social and loyal customers, over the years and Marceline became their official hometown. Helen was a very social person. She had many friends with whom she played cards and laughed with. She was a master Bridge player, an avid golfer upon retirement, and she loved to cook for her family and friends. She was a member of San Souci Sorority and a member of Sorosis Study Club and a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. She is survived by a daughter Cheryl of Columbia, a son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Lee Ann Fadler of Smithville, Mo., five grandchildren: Melissa Fadler of Huntsville, Texas, Marc Lewis (Heather), Matt Lewis (Kelly) of Columbia; Tyler Fadler (Kara) of Platte City, Mo; Suzy (Dave) Comeau of Scottsdale, Ariz., great-grandchildren, Carter Peel, Zach Peel, Grant Fadler, Emily Fadler and Deanna Lewis, former son-in law Mike Haynes, sisters-in-law, Darlene Fowler from West Des Moines, Ginny and Bob Long from Moberly, their families and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, a brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Louise Fuhrman, her sister Betty Wright and husband Jack Wright and granddaughter-in-law Jennifer Lewis, along with several member

DAVE LEE BRUNER

Dave Lee Bruner, 65, of Moberly died Wednesday, January 3, 2024, suddenly at his home. Born May 22, 1958, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of William Clay and Shirley Ann Hofmann Bruner. He graduated from Burlington High School. Dave attended college at University of Missouri - Columbia and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1987. Dave worked for Imperial Premium Financing Specialist as the head of I.T. and vice president. Dave enjoyed working with and on computers. He also enjoyed golfing and had participated in a few tournaments. He enjoyed playing pick up basketball with his friends, and was known as Bruno. Survivors include his brother, Thomas Bruner of New York, N.Y.; sister, Kathy Cagni of Hobe Sound, Fla.; nephew, McKenzie Cagni and niece, Alexanne Cagni. He was preceded in death by his parents. Burial was in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Prugh Funeral Service was in care of the arrangements. DENNIE J. BOWDEN

Dennie J. Bowden, 79, passed away in Cumming, Ga., on December 26, 2023. He was born in Cairo, Mo., on February 21, 1944, son of Ralph Lee Bowden and Martha Edwards Bowden. He attended school in Cairo and graduated in 1962. He graduated from Truman State University, formerly Northeast Missouri State University, Kirksville, Mo., in 1966 with a B.S. in Business Education. In 1963 he and Nancy Norton were married in Moberly, Mo. After college graduation in 1966, the couple moved to Kansas City, Missouri where they lived 9 1/2 years while he worked for General Motors in Labor Relations at Leeds Assembly Plant. It was here that they started a family, welcoming a daughter, Kelly, and a son Marty. Dennie was the consummate present father who loved his family deeply and always made it a priority to show up in their lives. In 1975 he joined CF Industries in Donaldsonville, La., in the Industrial Relations Department, living in Baton Rouge, La., for 4 1/2 years. In 1980 Dennie was transferred to Lakeland, Fla., where he became Director of Human Resources for CF Industries Florida Phosphate Operations (Bartow, Hardee, Plant City and the Port of Tampa.) He always looked for opportunities to care for others with whom he worked and invest in their futures and well being. He retired in 2006 following a career of 39 years. He later returned to CF Industries as a consultant for an additional 7 years. During his years of employment with CF Industries, he served on the board of VISTE, (Volunteers in Service to the Elderly) and on various committees of United Way of Central Florida. Dennie was a former member of Grasslands Golf and Country Club and an avid golfer. He also enjoyed being a former member of the Grasslands Couples Gin Group. In April of 2022 Dennie and Nancy moved to Cumming, Ga., to be near their children and grandchildren. SHIRLEY A. BRUNER

Shirley A. Bruner, 88, of Moberly died Friday, December 29, 2023, at University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Born August 16, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of Arthur and Mildred Schultz Hofmann. On July 18, 1954, she married William Clay Bruner at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Burlington, Iowa. He died on February 5, 2010. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1953. After high school, she worked for Drake Hardware Company. She also worked as a secretary for a law office in her early years of marriage. Shirley worked as an assistant for Dr. Thie at his dental office in the 70s and 80s. She later became a volunteer for Moberly Regional Hospital. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Church. After moving to Moberly in 1985 after her husband purchased a rock quarry, Shirley still kept up with the local activities of Burlington. She was still subscribed to the Hawkeye Newspaper and kept up with the local sport teams: Greyhounds, Blackhawkes, and Hawkeyes. In her later years of life, she spent her time on the computer playing games and emailing with her friends and relatives. She also organized an email group with her classmates of 1953 and would update them with any news she had about Burlington. Survivors include one son, Thomas Bruner of New York City, N.Y.; one daughter, Kathy Cagni of Hobe Sound, Fla.; two grandchildren, Alexanne and McKenzie Cagni; two brothers, Dave Hofmann and Jim Hofmann; two sisters, Barb Krasuski and Sandy Dunn; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Beth, brother Gary Hofmann.
